Treasured moments at Tranby House

Brought to you by Peninsula Tea Gardens, ‘Parisian afternoon tea’ was divine, and scrumptious dipping in different tea flavours and trying out different tea sandwiches on the banks of the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia.

Sandwiches are a a variety from the following:

– ham, egg, and Dijon mustard with mayonnaise

– Roast Beef and Horseradish with avocado mayonnaise

– and my favourite was Smoked Salmon and cucumber with salmon mousse and cream cheese

They were stacked and presented on a three – tiered curate stand together with fine bone china and silverware.

The pink macaron was a delight!

I arrived about 45 minutes early, so I decided to take the time to take some photos for the blog, so that you can enjoy a snippet of what it would be like. It was so inviting, and welcoming, and I really loved walking around the area whilst children and parents were about the farm. At first I didn’t know if I was in the right spot, but then learnt that Tranby House is the name of the historic farmers cottage from the early 1800’s and then they turned it into Peninsula Tea Garden. It is described as an english cottage styled farm house and the house is 19th century style. It was named Tranby House in 1923, and is one of the oldest surviving buildings from the early settlement of the Swan River Colony.

Second course, of course, was Scones served with strawberry preserve and whipped cream.

There was an assortment of French styled cakes and petite fours, and my choice of tea was ‘Stockholm’. The variety of teas to choose from were English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, Lover leap, Kenilworth, Assam, Darjeeling, Camomile, Buddha’s tears, Wuyi, Loolacondera, Serendip chai, and Barbado Dream.

I would mention the details of each tea, but if you click on the website, and go to Menu, then Full Menu, the details of each tea will be listed on the menu for you to look at.

I wanted to try the Kenilworth for something REALLY English, but I decided on Stockholm, and because we loved it so much, my friend bought it for me as a present.

Something delicious to have at home!

Served with a pot of tea, my choice was Stockholm with milk served with fine bone china. I did have a look underneath the cup to see which one it was called but I have forgotten what this one was called! If I had a choice I would’ve chosen the pink Old Country Roses of course! I thought the silverware left an exquisite feel to the high tea!

This is the gift bag with the ‘Stockholm’ tea in it. Great to have some goodies for home!

All in all, it was a wonderful experience to have a “proper” high tea with fabulous friends, and it was an experience I will never forget. There is also a ‘light tea menu’ you can experience or just ‘Peninsula Tea’ which is a selection of dainty finger sandwiches, the freshly baked scones with shipped cream, two delicate cake slices, and a pot of tea of your own choice. Vegetarian options are also available.

Bookings are essential. You can click on the website I highlighted for you, and click on “Book Now”. If you would like to see more reviews other than my own, to get more of an insight as to what other people like about it, look at the reviews on ‘Their Moments‘.

Gluten free options are also available, and when seated the staff will ask about dietary requirements. The staff were great, and the view was magnificent of the Swan River, so it was really nice to sit and overlook the river whilst munching on sandwiches and sipping yummy tea.

There are also specials available, such as the smoked salmon salad, or ploughman’s lunch.

So, there is quite a few to choose from if you are not having the ‘high tea special’.

I would particularly like to try the ‘Sweet Tea’ because they recommend to have the Stockholm tea with the scones, cakes and seasonal fruit.

If you are a Mum, it is great to organise a “Children’s Tea Party” which is only $14.80 per head.

So, for an exquisite afternoon tea, don’t forget to book at Tranby House’s Peninsula Tea Garden. Go to the “High tea and booking” tab on their website.

Opening hours are Monday to Sunday 8am to 5pm.

Absolute April Beauty Product Favourites

At the end of this month I decided to work a bit more on my beauty side of my life. I have been thinking in the back of my mind what I need to get and do to look after myself, and practice not only ‘self-care’ but my beauty look. I am no beauty professional, but when I lived in Melbourne I became very familiar with products, and brands that I have become fussy over time. Everyone is different when it comes to choosing brands for makeup, but I have always stuck to one – L’Oreal – for everything. So, recently I shopped at Priceline pharmacy in Karrinyup shopping centre and the one thing that I wanted to focus on getting was a new eyeshadow palette.

When I was in the L’Oreal section my eyes peeled open when seeing a $7 eyeshadow palette on sale, and I was like, what could be better! It was a natural beige coloured one, and only had about 4 eyeshades to choose from, until my mum found the perfect one for me. There was a 10 shade eyeshade palette on SALE for $9. What could go wrong! and what could be better than that!!??? As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one. So, I bought it!

It is the L’Oreal Paris LA Palette Nude in Rose.

I had to choose from Beige or Rose, and once looking at the colours (and knowing what I wanted) I chose the rose. It is inspired by makeup designers ‘must have palettes’  and is available in 10 elegant rose tones in 3 sleek shadow finishes. You can allow your creativity and artistic flair to unleash when blending and contouring the eye when putting and dabbing on the shimmery satin, or lustrous sheen.

The 3 different finishes – satin, sheen and matte leave a fantastic look for everyday wear, and I believe the rose colours are better than nude, because it has more of a variety and doesn’t have JUST brown tones, it has pinks and light colours along with a dark brown that is used for the eye lining.

The lipstick that I chose was $21.95 which was an investment. I know, anything can be an investment, but this truly was an investment! I have been looking for the perfect pinky but not too pink colour that makes me look like a clown, that I had a look through all the choices, and came across number 131 – Color Riche Matte – Mistinguette. This lipstick is enriched with a combination of Omega – 3 oils and Vitamin E and helps to protect your lips from drying. It’s soft and creamy texture leaves lips moisturized and smooth with a perfect finish. I love the gold tube that it comes in, and it leaves a classy look for when you go to touch up throughout the day. It is totally matte, and that was what I was looking for. If you want the complete matte look and feel I totally suggest this collection, and this colour in particular as well. It has become my favourite lipstick as of late, and I have been wearing it everyday to every event I go to. The texture is comfortable and light, and it leaves such a glow, and it lasts very long, but I have noticed when I eat or drink it does come off, but I suppose that goes with any lipstick. I have found with Covergirl lipsticks they are 24/7 stay on, but when I had my coffee it came off easily, so that was the only ‘negative’ thing that I had with it. Positive – it leaves my lips feeling moist. All in all, my favourite lipstick of the year.

So, a few of the pro’s of this lipstick are:

  • it leaves the best matte finish
  • good pigmentation

I bought the Ardell Natural Demi Wisps  (false eyelashes) for only $11, for a complete natural look that doesn’t create an over glamorous look, but that you can wear through out the day, and look great anyhow! I have never done this before, and I was excited about getting my first false eyelashes! haha! and it was fun deciding on which ones to get. I wanted a natural daywear look, so these were just perfect, and exactly what I wanted.

I have had a bit of a struggle getting them on, and I still need a lot of practice, but next time (from a friends piece of advice) I will use tweezers to put them into place from the inner eye to the outer corner of the eye. Plus next time I may cut it to fit my eye properly. I wasn’t sure if it needed to fill out the entire eye. But I was happy with the result and outcome of the entire look of the day. Next time I will remember to watch the Ardell Strip Lash Application for beginners which can be found on the internet, and just what they say you achieve a natural looking full lash experience! It creates such volume, and offering full and fluttering results.

The best mascara I have been using lately is the Revlon Ultimate All in one mascara. I have all but good news about this one. The wand may seem short and mini, but it really flicks up the lashes, and helps create a full look. I don’t suggest wearing the mascara with the false eyelashes, even though some girls do that, only if you want to look like a Kardashian girl, then yes, do it, But for me because I have long lashes it would make me look like the lashes are going past my eyebrows! I thought I had short lashes, but I have been told they are long, so being careful with mascara and lash products is my way to go.

The high impact formula has:

  • great length
  • definition
  • volume
  • intense colour
  • lift

This is my new favourite mascara, and I have been wearing it everyday on all occasions.

I thought I would share with you photos from videos I took on Instagram videos, here I was sharing how I did my eyes with the eyeshadow palette in rose, and I am not sure which colours I used, but I used the first white colour as a highlighter, and then a pinky colour for the middle, and then the dark brown as an eyeliner.

This is the finished look, with a L’Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable liquid foundation, the eyeshadow I share with you, the Ardell Demi false eye lashes, and the Mistinguette L’Oreal Matte Lipstick.

To top off the rest of the day, I decided to unwind with a “Pride and Prejudice” novel by Jane Austen. I used a quote of hers in “How to be like Kate in a Kardashian world“. I hadn’t read it before, and did try to read it when I was in Merredin but never finished it. I have been wanting to read more period costume time books, yes, I know, I have been reading regency period books, but this is a world renowned classic and the type of english used is quite old, and I have been told that you have to concentrate on reading it, but since getting through the first chapter I have felt like I have been going through it like a breeze! I am still working on Library Studies – currently working on ‘Circulation and Customer Service’, and working on Assessment 1 from doing Session 1 – 5 that I need to work on it tomorrow to get it in on time.

So, I thought I would leave you with a link for “Best beauty blogs to follow in 2017”

Luxurious Lifestyle

I couldn’t help but share my new bag collection…… okay, well, I’ve had it for about a month, but I love the theme, the idea of a 3 in 1 bag, large, medium and small items that are so handy! For a nice evening Occassion I can just take out the third one, and everyday I can use all of them! I am so impressed with my set, and I completely love my collection.

I got it from a vintage shop in Westfield Whitford City Shopping Mall with 30 percent OFF  and it was the last one, so I HAD to have them! I have to apologise because I can not remember the name of the actual store. When I find out I will update this page with the information. I felt desperate for a nice London Bag! It was a desperately needed item! Haha and Just more to add to my “London theme collection”!

I got a beautiful gift most recently, that I will absolutely treasure forever. A friend recently went to England and came back with a set of 30 postcards from the Buckingham Palace Shop or it may have been at Windsor Castle! It is a set of classically printed black and white cards of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and I was astonished and quite awe-struck by the lovely gift. I am not sure what I am going to do with them, I have sent two postcards already to some pen pals, but I would love to create a collage/board with all of them on it.

You can buy the postcards at the Royal Collection Shop website here for ten pounds which is only 16 dollars in Australian currency, although delivery may be expensive, it normally depends on what item you buy.

These are a few of my favourite ones! Just completely stunning…….

and isn’t this one just gorgeous…???

Pilgrimage to Perth

20160123-181357.jpg

When my Dad mentioned that we were spending the long weekend in Perth I was over loaded with excitement. We were in Mandurah not too long ago and now we are going on another holiday! Travel is one of the main things I wanted to do this year, even though I was brought up in Perth, there is still a lot I haven’t seen & we go down there every few months seeing it is the closest major city to us.

Sometimes I feel I have been in the country for too long, but what to do!

We arrived at the motel, Starwest Apartments Alderney on Hay around 1pm, Saturday, and it was fairly adequate with 2 bedrooms and open space with a nice sized kitchen and a lounge room with television. Quite a comfortable place, cute and modern.

20160123-180348.jpg

I didn’t watch television at all!! I just enjoyed the stay and most of all the views from the balcony! We stayed right in the heart of Perth CBD with excellent services and facilities. Summer fun! There was a pool but never got round to the time for it!

20160124-220835.jpg

On Saturday, Garden City in Booragoon was our first stop, like always! And Zara and Bardot were the main places we shopped. I didn’t buy anything but today I got a lovely bracelet from a little boutique shop called “Stella Rose” which is situated in Mount Hawthorn. The lady that served us, Jenny was really lovely, and complimented my sister a lot when trying on clothes. The bracelet is so feminine and is very special to me seeing that Mum bought it for me. Something special to have and to hold.

20160124-221326.jpg

We also went into a little bookshop and I loved the travel section. From New York, to London, it had EVERYTHING! And every single bit of information on every city in the world! I wanted to buy “Melbourne”, but from living there I feel I know enough about the place!

I bought a new book, “The lost Tudor Princess”. I can’t wait to get stuck into it when I finish A Refuge at Highland Hall. It’s not in my current to read list for 2016, but it just looked too intriguing to not to buy!!! It looks like my cup of tea! If you love books, refer to my previous post for a selection of novels and such.

20160124-222401.jpg

I didn’t go into the actual mall this time but we drove through the city for fun!!! Checking out different suburbs of the town……. It made me miss city life! Just a bit!

20160123-181318.jpg

Travel is still on my list, but while I’m based in Merredin I want to continue on with studies, as it is quite important to me at this stage in life! I have so many things I want to achieve in life, and finding and creating my life whilst in Merredin is an adventure! Setting goals for travel or anything else in life sets the tone for your life!!! For example, If writing a book is a dream, set small achievable goals weekly and set time aside to write. You will feel like you’re getting somewhere!!!

I hope the same for you wherever you are! Adventures here we come!
