10 ways to practice self-care PLUS a Book Giveaway!

When was the last time you did something JUST for yourself?

Has your daily routine been too much and you just need time to learn to relax ?

I have been longing to do this post for a very long time. Not only did someone recommend it, But I have been wanting to come up with ideas and tips for a life filled with mindfulness, peacefulness and serenity. The things that create a time for spending some “you” time. At the end of the day I almost (daily) spend some “me” time.

I get home and pop the kettle on, and just do things to let myself rejuvenate, and renew my mind so that I can sleep better and smash the next day.

The following may work for you, may not, but I have not only researched, but put together my own ideas to cultivate building-blocks of self-care. This is not just something you try and do once and then just forget and get on with a busy hectic eventful life. You need to do these things consistently if you want to have a healthy, mental and physical well-being.

Here are some tips to go by that I think will benefit you in the long haul if you’re a busy person, (Mum, Wife, Entrepeneur, Business Woman, Full-time worker):

1. Listen to classical music or any easy listening (evening) type of music!

I recommend Jackie Evancho, Andre Rieu’, Kathleen Battle, Greta Bradman, Katherine Jenkins and composers like Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Beethoven. I trained as a classical music pianist for 8 years, so classical music is my escape. That’s why I basically put it as number One! But if you don’t particularly like classical music, whatever kind of music you think is relaxing for you!

2. Book a massage ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿผ or an ultimate day spa in Perth.ย Or a Luxurious Pamper Package at a High End Day Spa.ย

3.Read a novelย such as Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, or an inspirational/motivational bookย to get even more ideas on looking after yourself.

4. Breathe – Sit on your bed (or even lay) and concentrate on your breathing. Inhale and exhale slowly, feeling and making sure you are relaxed.

5. Try a different kind of tea – Opt for herbal green, or chamomile tea is also known as a relaxant.

6. Another idea is to just lie on your bed for five minutes and close your eyes. Not necessarily taking a nap, although a power snooze for 5 minutes is excellent! I just think lying there and closing your eyes is a time to renew.

7. Organise a Girls Getaway to escape, relax and indulge……

8. Create your own aromatherapy without the expensive candles with Little Finch Candle and Co.

Some oils to use can be the Aromachologie Relaxing Essential Oil Blendย which is only $25 through L’Occitane which is a great lavender oil to soothe yourself and create a healthier you. For some more ideas on oils visit my Doterra Party page and get an idea of what oils would be your favourite or type.

9. Make a cup of tea and pull out a chick flick! Something like “The other woman” with Cameron Diaz is a laugh! Or “How to lose a guy in 10 days” even if you’ve watched it 100 times like me! To me it is a classic! And will always be a favourite!

10. Be selfish. Not in the wrong way, but do that one thing today just because it makes you happy. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do and something stopped you from pursuing it, I say, GO FOR IT! If you have that gut instinct feeling about pursuing a career, going in a different direction in life, changing courses, then, one thing I always have believed is “Trust your gut!!!!!!”

I am a firm believer in self-care, and am learning new and more ideas from other bloggers who love to post things similar.

Another idea is to have an early nights sleep. That’s always been a top tip!

Go shopping.

Priceline has a fantastic product from Essano which is a Rosehip Certified Organic Mist Toner which is enriched with Kakadu Plum and Green Tea. I only got it for $10.39.

Tonight I sprayed it on after putting on my night cream and it is just soooo soothing and refreshing. I feel it doing wonders! It’s more of a day spray to hydrate your skin but it’s still nice to spray on before bedtime.

This time I am doing a giveaway. If you comment your favourite tip and why, you will receive this delicious story of a book!

A few favourites……

I am a magazine junkie….. Every time a new Royal Life magazine comes out I am off to the newsagency with excitement that they have put one aside for me…. I should probably subscribe for a year or so, but I like the idea that one is held for me at the newsagency so I can just walk down and grab my copy!

I always eagerly scout out the rest that are on display such as Cosmopolitan or Cleo even Women’s Health. I used to love Grazia, because it was very informative and always has really good pictures to look at. Unfortunately, the magazine selection at Merredin isn’t as good as the ones in Kellerberrin. They have “Majesty” and “Royalty” which I would have loved to have as well.

I recently bought the latest “In Style” magazine with Jennifer Hawkins on the front. It is the March issue and it has fabulous sections on “Shopping for the new season” and “10 Top Beauty Looks”.

I will be poring over this on the long weekend. This weekend will probably be a lazy one for me! Much to my excitement I realised there is going to be a new season of “The Real Housewives of Melbourne”!! Because I am so far away from Melbourne it keeps me feeling closer to home when I watch things like this. ๐Ÿ’™

20160305-095008.jpg

I came across a new mascara by “Estee Lauder”. Would love any feedback if you have used it. It is very NEW and called the Sumptuous Knockout Mascara which has maximum lash impact and is blacker than black. Apparently it fannes out, lifts and defines!! This I would LOVE to try!!!! Unfortunately at the moment I can not add links to text, so it can be found on http://www.esteelauder.com.au ๐Ÿ’„๐ŸŽ€โค๏ธ

20160305-095424.jpg

On page 134 there are some Beauty Hot Spots with International Editors where they have chosen some of their beauty favourites. This section you will LOVE…. Editor, Cassie Steer from the United Kingdom suggested the Garnier Perfector BB Cream…. Not too long ago I was using BB Creams as they were a moisturiser and foundation in ONE!! This cream is $14.95. They are normally not expensive, pretty cheap and are a tinted base with SPF. You can call 1300 659 359 to place your order.

20160305-100216.jpg

I want to try the Josie Maran Cosmetics Pure Argan Oil. Apparently it nourishes your face, hair, nails or anywhere where you need extra hydration! It is $66 and is found on http://www.mecca.com.au.

20160305-102116.jpg

I have posted about my MAC Face Mist on my Instagram, so when I run out I would like to do a swap and try out the Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist. It is $85, which is an average price considering it’s Chanel! It is an instant hydrator and moisturises your skin at the same time!

20160305-101112.jpg

So these are a few favourites that are on my beauty list at the moment! This weekend I might find some more to add to my list as I continue to read on. Yes! I have already found a L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise UltraRich Precious Oil Mist! Would be great for voluminous hair!!!! And styling……… These products mentioned will help to replenish the skin on the face and make you looking as fresh as ever!!!! Browse on Mecca.com.au….. You’re bound to find something you like!!!

Happy beauty product shopping!!

Now, need to catch up on Downton Abbey………

Amazing Arbonne Addiction

It’s the weekend!!!! And I can’t wait till 2 o’clock for a Makeup course with Arbonne held at the Merredin Recreational Centre. I have always loved my makeup, especially Mary Kay, and checking out new brands is fun! I have been using Arbonne skincare products especially the little samples I received from a consultant that I previously talked about in a recent blog.

20160130-121055.jpg

I recently received some beauty products. A MUSK Travel Pack that included a loofah, shampoo and conditioner, and a body wash and body lotion. It can be found on EBay.

20160130-114047.jpg

For a wide range of products to choose from, check out Adore Beauty. It has Aesop, L’Occitane, Skintitute and so much more!!!

20160130-114250.jpg

It’s 2 o’clock and I arrived in a grey and white striped maxi dress with a coral blazer jacket. Makeup is displayed on tables along with catalogues and mirrors, eyeshadow palettes and MUCH more.

At the start the makeup lady asked us all what our makeup routine was (I have been a bit lazy since moving to Merredin) and she explained that Arbonne is a Swiss company that started 35 years ago and is botanical based.

We started the makeup routine off with a primer, then applied liquid foundationโ€ฆ. The foundations were SPF15. After that we put on “light” creme concealer, like under the eyes to get rid of some bagsโ€ฆ. and then a bronzer to highlight the cheeks and even the face!! I topped the look off with “Blossom” blush which left a soft, sweet natural look.

We then put a base eyeshadow on, named “Linen“, I then used “Indigo” eyeshadow at the end of the eye and above the eye as well, and blended it along the crease of the eye.

We then finished off with a “Setting Pretty Translucent Loose Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 15” and “Sheer Glow Highlighter” which you only put across the cheekbones.

To complete the makeover look, I then put on “It’s a long story” mascara, and used the “Hibiscus” lipstickย which is $28, for a glamorous effect.

The Arbonne makeup is a lot of fun! and I enjoyed dabbing my face with these simple products. I bought, or should I say, ordered the “Ebony” eyeliner as I had run out of black eyeliner for everyday use. It was so nice to do classes as it is fun sharing with other women.

If you like Estee Lauder, I came across a CHEAP eyeshadow palette for only $18.95! Surprisingly, Ebay has quite a few cheap palettes that you will love!!! I hope you have enjoyed the makeover that I have shared with you as much as I have loved sharing it!!!

Are there any makeup classes you can do in your area?
