Absolute April Beauty Product Favourites

At the end of this month I decided to work a bit more on my beauty side of my life. I have been thinking in the back of my mind what I need to get and do to look after myself, and practice not only ‘self-care’ but my beauty look. I am no beauty professional, but when I lived in Melbourne I became very familiar with products, and brands that I have become fussy over time. Everyone is different when it comes to choosing brands for makeup, but I have always stuck to one – L’Oreal – for everything. So, recently I shopped at Priceline pharmacy in Karrinyup shopping centre and the one thing that I wanted to focus on getting was a new eyeshadow palette.

When I was in the L’Oreal section my eyes peeled open when seeing a $7 eyeshadow palette on sale, and I was like, what could be better! It was a natural beige coloured one, and only had about 4 eyeshades to choose from, until my mum found the perfect one for me. There was a 10 shade eyeshade palette on SALE for $9. What could go wrong! and what could be better than that!!??? As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one. So, I bought it!

It is the L’Oreal Paris LA Palette Nude in Rose.

I had to choose from Beige or Rose, and once looking at the colours (and knowing what I wanted) I chose the rose. It is inspired by makeup designers ‘must have palettes’  and is available in 10 elegant rose tones in 3 sleek shadow finishes. You can allow your creativity and artistic flair to unleash when blending and contouring the eye when putting and dabbing on the shimmery satin, or lustrous sheen.

The 3 different finishes – satin, sheen and matte leave a fantastic look for everyday wear, and I believe the rose colours are better than nude, because it has more of a variety and doesn’t have JUST brown tones, it has pinks and light colours along with a dark brown that is used for the eye lining.

The lipstick that I chose was $21.95 which was an investment. I know, anything can be an investment, but this truly was an investment! I have been looking for the perfect pinky but not too pink colour that makes me look like a clown, that I had a look through all the choices, and came across number 131 – Color Riche Matte – Mistinguette. This lipstick is enriched with a combination of Omega – 3 oils and Vitamin E and helps to protect your lips from drying. It’s soft and creamy texture leaves lips moisturized and smooth with a perfect finish. I love the gold tube that it comes in, and it leaves a classy look for when you go to touch up throughout the day. It is totally matte, and that was what I was looking for. If you want the complete matte look and feel I totally suggest this collection, and this colour in particular as well. It has become my favourite lipstick as of late, and I have been wearing it everyday to every event I go to. The texture is comfortable and light, and it leaves such a glow, and it lasts very long, but I have noticed when I eat or drink it does come off, but I suppose that goes with any lipstick. I have found with Covergirl lipsticks they are 24/7 stay on, but when I had my coffee it came off easily, so that was the only ‘negative’ thing that I had with it. Positive – it leaves my lips feeling moist. All in all, my favourite lipstick of the year.

So, a few of the pro’s of this lipstick are:

  • it leaves the best matte finish
  • good pigmentation

I bought the Ardell Natural Demi Wisps  (false eyelashes) for only $11, for a complete natural look that doesn’t create an over glamorous look, but that you can wear through out the day, and look great anyhow! I have never done this before, and I was excited about getting my first false eyelashes! haha! and it was fun deciding on which ones to get. I wanted a natural daywear look, so these were just perfect, and exactly what I wanted.

I have had a bit of a struggle getting them on, and I still need a lot of practice, but next time (from a friends piece of advice) I will use tweezers to put them into place from the inner eye to the outer corner of the eye. Plus next time I may cut it to fit my eye properly. I wasn’t sure if it needed to fill out the entire eye. But I was happy with the result and outcome of the entire look of the day. Next time I will remember to watch the Ardell Strip Lash Application for beginners which can be found on the internet, and just what they say you achieve a natural looking full lash experience! It creates such volume, and offering full and fluttering results.

The best mascara I have been using lately is the Revlon Ultimate All in one mascara. I have all but good news about this one. The wand may seem short and mini, but it really flicks up the lashes, and helps create a full look. I don’t suggest wearing the mascara with the false eyelashes, even though some girls do that, only if you want to look like a Kardashian girl, then yes, do it, But for me because I have long lashes it would make me look like the lashes are going past my eyebrows! I thought I had short lashes, but I have been told they are long, so being careful with mascara and lash products is my way to go.

The high impact formula has:

  • great length
  • definition
  • volume
  • intense colour
  • lift

This is my new favourite mascara, and I have been wearing it everyday on all occasions.

I thought I would share with you photos from videos I took on Instagram videos, here I was sharing how I did my eyes with the eyeshadow palette in rose, and I am not sure which colours I used, but I used the first white colour as a highlighter, and then a pinky colour for the middle, and then the dark brown as an eyeliner.

This is the finished look, with a L’Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable liquid foundation, the eyeshadow I share with you, the Ardell Demi false eye lashes, and the Mistinguette L’Oreal Matte Lipstick.

To top off the rest of the day, I decided to unwind with a “Pride and Prejudice” novel by Jane Austen. I used a quote of hers in “How to be like Kate in a Kardashian world“. I hadn’t read it before, and did try to read it when I was in Merredin but never finished it. I have been wanting to read more period costume time books, yes, I know, I have been reading regency period books, but this is a world renowned classic and the type of english used is quite old, and I have been told that you have to concentrate on reading it, but since getting through the first chapter I have felt like I have been going through it like a breeze! I am still working on Library Studies – currently working on ‘Circulation and Customer Service’, and working on Assessment 1 from doing Session 1 – 5 that I need to work on it tomorrow to get it in on time.

So, I thought I would leave you with a link for “Best beauty blogs to follow in 2017”

Luxurious Lifestyle

I couldn’t help but share my new bag collection…… okay, well, I’ve had it for about a month, but I love the theme, the idea of a 3 in 1 bag, large, medium and small items that are so handy! For a nice evening Occassion I can just take out the third one, and everyday I can use all of them! I am so impressed with my set, and I completely love my collection.

I got it from a vintage shop in Westfield Whitford City Shopping Mall with 30 percent OFF  and it was the last one, so I HAD to have them! I have to apologise because I can not remember the name of the actual store. When I find out I will update this page with the information. I felt desperate for a nice London Bag! It was a desperately needed item! Haha and Just more to add to my “London theme collection”!

I got a beautiful gift most recently, that I will absolutely treasure forever. A friend recently went to England and came back with a set of 30 postcards from the Buckingham Palace Shop or it may have been at Windsor Castle! It is a set of classically printed black and white cards of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and I was astonished and quite awe-struck by the lovely gift. I am not sure what I am going to do with them, I have sent two postcards already to some pen pals, but I would love to create a collage/board with all of them on it.

You can buy the postcards at the Royal Collection Shop website here for ten pounds which is only 16 dollars in Australian currency, although delivery may be expensive, it normally depends on what item you buy.

These are a few of my favourite ones! Just completely stunning…….

and isn’t this one just gorgeous…???

10 ways to practice self-care PLUS a Book Giveaway!

When was the last time you did something JUST for yourself?

Has your daily routine been too much and you just need time to learn to relax ?

I have been longing to do this post for a very long time. Not only did someone recommend it, But I have been wanting to come up with ideas and tips for a life filled with mindfulness, peacefulness and serenity. The things that create a time for spending some “you” time. At the end of the day I almost (daily) spend some “me” time.

I get home and pop the kettle on, and just do things to let myself rejuvenate, and renew my mind so that I can sleep better and smash the next day.

The following may work for you, may not, but I have not only researched, but put together my own ideas to cultivate building-blocks of self-care. This is not just something you try and do once and then just forget and get on with a busy hectic eventful life. You need to do these things consistently if you want to have a healthy, mental and physical well-being.

Here are some tips to go by that I think will benefit you in the long haul if you’re a busy person, (Mum, Wife, Entrepeneur, Business Woman, Full-time worker):

1. Listen to classical music or any easy listening (evening) type of music!

I recommend Jackie Evancho, Andre Rieu’, Kathleen Battle, Greta Bradman, Katherine Jenkins and composers like Bach, Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Beethoven. I trained as a classical music pianist for 8 years, so classical music is my escape. That’s why I basically put it as number One! But if you don’t particularly like classical music, whatever kind of music you think is relaxing for you!

2. Book a massage 💆🏼 or an ultimate day spa in Perth. Or a Luxurious Pamper Package at a High End Day Spa.

3.Read a novel such as Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, or an inspirational/motivational book to get even more ideas on looking after yourself.

4. Breathe – Sit on your bed (or even lay) and concentrate on your breathing. Inhale and exhale slowly, feeling and making sure you are relaxed.

5. Try a different kind of tea – Opt for herbal green, or chamomile tea is also known as a relaxant.

6. Another idea is to just lie on your bed for five minutes and close your eyes. Not necessarily taking a nap, although a power snooze for 5 minutes is excellent! I just think lying there and closing your eyes is a time to renew.

7. Organise a Girls Getaway to escape, relax and indulge……

8. Create your own aromatherapy without the expensive candles with Little Finch Candle and Co.

Some oils to use can be the Aromachologie Relaxing Essential Oil Blend which is only $25 through L’Occitane which is a great lavender oil to soothe yourself and create a healthier you. For some more ideas on oils visit my Doterra Party page and get an idea of what oils would be your favourite or type.

9. Make a cup of tea and pull out a chick flick! Something like “The other woman” with Cameron Diaz is a laugh! Or “How to lose a guy in 10 days” even if you’ve watched it 100 times like me! To me it is a classic! And will always be a favourite!

10. Be selfish. Not in the wrong way, but do that one thing today just because it makes you happy. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do and something stopped you from pursuing it, I say, GO FOR IT! If you have that gut instinct feeling about pursuing a career, going in a different direction in life, changing courses, then, one thing I always have believed is “Trust your gut!!!!!!”

I am a firm believer in self-care, and am learning new and more ideas from other bloggers who love to post things similar.

Another idea is to have an early nights sleep. That’s always been a top tip!

Go shopping.

Priceline has a fantastic product from Essano which is a Rosehip Certified Organic Mist Toner which is enriched with Kakadu Plum and Green Tea. I only got it for $10.39.

Tonight I sprayed it on after putting on my night cream and it is just soooo soothing and refreshing. I feel it doing wonders! It’s more of a day spray to hydrate your skin but it’s still nice to spray on before bedtime.

This time I am doing a giveaway. If you comment your favourite tip and why, you will receive this delicious story of a book!

Beauty pick ups and afternoon bliss!

Yesterday I went to Joondalup Shopping Centre with a friend and as soon as I got there I felt I was in heaven!!!! It reminded me of Highpoint Shopping Centre and everything felt normal again…..

Shopping in a BIG shopping centre is my thing….. and where there’s at least a few clothing stores that have at least Forever New, I am totally inclined to designer shopping as it is a great idea to buy the Christmas shopping as well. I’m so excited to see this new centre grow and grow to be successful and world – class.

Walking around the centre it felt so good to be at a good place where there was a lot of BUZZ, people and it was beautiful to see some Christmas decorations that were up! It was “beginning to feel a lot like Christmas”……

I’m so glad I got to see this grand place, as I am currently in Scarborough where the closest shops are Innaloo. Innaloo isn’t too bad, but Joondalup is MASSIVE and there’s practically EVERYTHING!!!!!!!

If you want to do your Christmas shopping, Joondalup is a great place to go to.

I picked up a few beauty buys!

I went straight to MAC Cosmetics and spoke to a lady that helped me pick a new foundation. I had been using Studio Fix’s liquid compact foundation, which was great on my skin, but I wanted something completely new and fresh!

It was completely delightful to sit and have the lady pamper me with testing “Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 NW20″.

I was most happy with the results as it looked like a similar colour to my neck as well, so it didn’t look like I was one colour and then another colour below. It is normally hard to find the right colour for me as I have olive skin, but am quite fair on the neck. This $50 foundation is honestly the way to go!

The second best beauty buy is:

L’Oreal False Lash Butterfly Wings

It gives a false lash effect which is exactly what I want!!!!! And it fans out your lashes to make a glamorous statement and then I just thought I would love to create more volume, and that’s exactly what it does! I think it lengthens the eye lashes as well, as my eyelashes are quite short – some people say I have long ones! But I don’t think so!!!! If you want lengthened eyelashes, this beautiful mascara is a great beauty buy!

Another stop was ….

Peter Alexander

Australia’s leading sleepwear designer brand. I have shopped here MANY times and I actually met Peter at Highpoint of the opening of Peter Alexander in the shopping centre.

I shopped and browsed until I came across a Paris Eiffel Tower pyjama slip, and I just LOVE the packaging!!! It is absolutely stunning.

And, somewhere in the centre I bought a Heathcote and Ivory Body Moistursing Cream called “Blush Rose” which I particularly LOVE as the brand is English and it has a nice ring to the name! It’s a softening body cream, and I started to peel where my sunburn was and it helped moisturise my skin, so it stopped it from being flaky.

Heathcote and Ivory has some gorgeous stuff and the collections are vintage and would make great Christmas presents. I particularly liked the Vintage and Co Patterns and Petals Bath Fizzler Caddy. There are hand creams, and hand and lip sets that you can buy for 6 pounds. It has pretty sets, and decorative tins to make your bathroom look really pretty.

I then went to H&M and found this summery top that was ONLY $15!!!! I thought it was PERFECT for the summery season that we are now in, and I love the pattern. It is really summery and girly, and I have been wearing it around the house ever since I bought it.

Have you been to H&M? I loved the Melbourne one when it was the old GPO.

MAC happens to be an authentic brand and doesn’t disappoint! I have been using their products for years now, and will probably stick to it for as long as I can. This new foundation is a NEW LOVE, as it really matches the colour of my skin.

It has a similar name to the compact foundation that you can buy, but you have to make sure that it says “fluid” at the end, and that the packaging is in a bottle, as it is very liquidy, and not like the one that comes in a compact.

And OF COURSE, the last stop was Dymocks. It was my kind of day, coffee, shopping, coffee, then shopping….. It was seriously the BEST day of my life!!!!! I met a girl in a store who was from Manchester – I think it was in Novo, and I raved on about my desire to go to London – I think she got the picture that I was a city girl, and she said ‘I would love it’….

Doesn’t this book look so informative and elegant? That’s why I picked it!!! I particularly chose it because I wanted to read up more on a ‘royal member’, and something that wasn’t too hard to read, but informative. I still have to finish the “Other” Victoria book which I mentioned previously, but that was a novel, and I can still get through it – I tend to read at night before bed – I find it hard to read through out the day because I like to be productive, like, doing things like this!!! and well, typing!!! It is such a stunning cover, that as soon as I saw it, I was like “I have got to have that!!!!”…… hehehe As it says on the cover, it is the inspiration for the ITV series of “Victoria”, which I WISH I was able to watch!!! But I think it may be on Foxtel, whereas I only have Netflix. I STILL have to get through “The Crown” – I probably only have a few episodes to go!!! When it finishes I will be sad…. as it is like Downton Abbey ending…..

Last, but not least, this mug and saucer are from:

Morgan and Finch

Unfortunately, I was unable to find this cup and saucer online, so I don’t know where you can find it online, but it is in Bed Bath and Table in the homewares section, and it is apart of the Morgan and Finch Home Collection. Don’t you just love my photos!??? How exquisite. 😍

It has been the most amazing day at Joondalup Shopping Centre, and now it is time to unwind with a Buckingham Palace Garden Party Tea – which is Jasmine Earl Grey from the English Tea Store in Canada. How divine!!!!! My eyes popped open when I saw this delicious looking box!!!!!

It is the next favourite tea, after London Strand and it may well be my new favourite number One tea! I think the tea speaks for itself, it is the number one tea to have AT a garden party!!!!

I really would like the idea of having an afternoon or high tea with someone and having this set out with my Royal Albert collection. It would just be perfect for that tea party you want!

The weekend is to be a relaxing time and well, I do feel relaxed, especially when there is not much to do but watch Netflix (Or a DVD which is called “Monarchy – the royal family at work”), and finish up on assignments. I have it on in the background while I surf the internet, (whoops, more shopping!), listening to music, and catching up on blogs.

YAY! It’s Friday!

Don’t you just love the weekends??? I know what I will be doing – sipping tea, and reading “Victoria – A Life”. Let’s see if I will eventually do a book review on it!

Traversing Travel – plus a few more beauty products!

This week has been one hectic killer of a ride! I have had to move from small country town, Merredin to Scarborough (the sunny side of WA) all within a couple of days & which is a three hour drive, but it has been great! And I feel ready to take on the world! Well, my world. It is a transition changing from favourite coffee spots to new places in Western Australia that I haven’t been to before!

First stop. Lawley’s.

I had a chicken and cheese and avocado roll and chilled for a bit before heading off to the chemist.

You can also organise high teas at this cafe. Availability is Monday to Thursday and their phone number is 9245 6264.

You can also check out their website here

When I got to the chemist my eyes popped open at all the products that were on display! I’m a big beauty product fanatic if you haven’t noticed and I am always on the look out for something new.

I bought a Dove Summer Glow Tanning Lotion which is great for pre-summer. Today was sunny so I loved walking in the sun trying to get some vitamin D. It will keep my skin richly moisturised during any season!

Here are a few products to consider:

You can find them all at your local pharmacy if you’re in Australia, otherwise you may just need to google the product name and do a bit of online shopping!

I also bought a few mags of course!!!!!! (How unlike me, lol)

And had a walk through the neighbourhood.

How lovely are these roses!

Lavender is a favourite of mine also.

Well, for now I will leave you with these photos of beauty products, and get back to watching my morning Netflix! Well, it’s actually afternoon! 😝 Coffee ☕️ is calling my name!

How to get a vintage diva look – be glamorous for a day

In today’s world, being a diva has become a negative characteristic, a word often used to describe spoiled celebrities or persons demanding special treatment. However, genuine divas from history were all about being classy, untouchable and goddess-like. The concept of beauty has changed throughout eras, but there’s that vintage look that’s simply timeless. It draws attention and urges us to try to identify with it, so we too can experience what it feels to be in the spotlight as the classiest woman in the room. Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe – these are just some of the names that became symbols for sophisticated and gorgeous looks. Of course, when it comes to being a diva – it’s never just about the appearance. Glamour cannot be purchased, it demands a certain attitude. Here’s how you too can be a diva, even if it’s just for a day.

Hairstyle is all about volume and waves.

Glamour has many different faces, but to get that retro look – think volume and waves. Step away from straight flat ironed hair and experiment with the Old Hollywood style. The length of your hair is not an obstacle: if it’s shoulder length, get inspiration from Marilyn Monroe or Sophia Loren; if it’s short, turn to the absolute queen of the stylish pixie cut, Audrey Hepburn. Short hair is great for reminiscing jazz-era: make finger waves and you’ll be a head-turner! If you have long hair, try glamorous waves: the trick is to curl your hair with a curling iron and then use a simple brush to break the curls into beautiful waves. Here’s an extra tip: spray some perfume on the brush and then comb your hair – it will leave you with a beautiful scent!

Proper skincare and beauty routines

Have you ever seen a diva with pimples or dull skin? Of course not! Commit to a skin care regime to keep your skin healthy and beautiful. This means you should forget about being sloppy: no excuse for sleeping with your makeup on! Invest in quality products and take your skin type into consideration. The basic three steps for every lazy diva-wannabe include cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating. Keep in mind that daytime routine and nighttime routine are different. If you have extremely dry skin, you can use overnight face masks to restore moisture. In addition to this, take good care of your teeth. Just think of Marilyn Monroe and her stunning smile framed with red lipstick, or even Kate Middleton’s perfect pearly whites. Although using home remedies (e.g. baking soda) can be effective, turn to teeth whitening in Sydney for more lasting results worthy of the name diva. Add a glossy red lipstick and you’ll get people wondering from which red carpet ceremony you’ve wandered off.

Makeup with eyebrows in focus

The first step towards getting that diva look is not over-plucking your eyebrows. Sure, Marlene Dietrich made a bold statement with her high-arc thin painted eyebrows, but you may want to skip that. Thick, filled-in eyebrows such as Elizabeth Taylor’s or Audrey Hepburn’s are the way to go. Of course, don’t make your eyebrows too thick if they are naturally thin. The trick is to enhance them and give them more definition since they frame your face. Red lipstick is a must for that retro-diva look and overall – it’s really simple to achieve glamorous makeup style. Just make sure you don’t overexpose your skin to the sun and lay off the foundation.

Outfits that are on point

Glamour doesn’t have to be expensive. The trick is to be savvy when shopping: buy feminine pieces and simplify your look. Avoid costume-like outfits and stick to some basic rules. Whatever you wear, you have to maintain your physique, a good posture, and diva-attitude.

These are some main things you should think about when chasing that retro-Hollywood look. With a little bit of effort, you can be a true diva every day!

Completely Cosmetics (Part 4) Eyeliners

The function of the eyeliner is to frame and define the eyes.

I love the 60’s look with the BOLD eyeliner to accentuate the eyes.

You can use either pencil or liquid. I tend to use pencil for everyday use and liquid for evening and special occasions.

Liquid eyeliner can be a bit iffy and hard to apply. It only looks effective if you can create a VERY thin line.

I think you need to be picky when choosing liquid eyeliners.

Today I bought a Savvy By DB Kohl eyeliner in Granite.

It is a great everyday use eyeliner and only $5 at Priceline Pharmacy.

I will be using this NON – STOP!!!!! And there are more products on my shopping list.

What is your favourite eyeliner?

Do you like using eyeliners?

Completely Cosmetics Part 3 (Eyeshadows)

Eyeshadows are used to highlight the eyes. They can be available as powders, creams, liquids that make you SHINE!!!!!

A line of eyeshadow is softer and easier to blend than a pencil.

Liquids and creams contain more preservatives like salt, brine, vinegar which can cause a negative reaction.

It is best to use POWDER shadows, especially matte powder eye shadows.

Apply foundation, then powder to the eyelids so that the eyeshadow will set better and not crease.

A woman’s eyes are her most naturalistic facial feature.

When we talk to people, we look into each other’s eyes.

The colours you choos express your creativity and shows who you are. Naturally, if you are a girly girl you choose pinks!

For a “day look”, you usually would opt for earthy browny tones. Once you choose a favourite brand, look at ALL colours to determine your BEST colour.

I recently bought a 88 Matte Colour Eyeshadow Palette from BH Cosmetics.

It has a WIDE range of colours to choose from!!!!

Thanks to BH Cosmetics for such a wonderful range of product!!!

Completely Cosmetics (Part 2) Lipsticks

635981642845981865-843042002_girlthings

Lipsticks add a sheer touch by setting the tone and adding colour to the face. What colour you wear is vital and is key, for when you are either out shopping or dining out at a restaurant. You can choose so many different types of lipsticks, from L’Oreal, to Revlon, Mary Kay, Chanel, MAC, Sephora, Charlotte Tilbury, the list is endless.

I love to wear pinky tones, because I am really girly-girl, I could have pink everything but my room’s not pink! I am just definite at wearing pink lipstick, as it shows my personality. I hardly wear red, only for really special occasions.

The most luminous lipstick I love is the Queen Lipstick / Matte Revolution. It gives a full plump look and the colour is pretty and bright. It has a great matte lip effect, and is totally flattering.
