It has strength and resistance to bear any variation of temperature which prevents it from cracks even if a hot utensil is kept on it directly.

This is a general property of granite, but you need to understand that all granites are not same and are available in different varieties, so every granite stone cannot be used to make benchtops. Granite is available in natural form and to upgrade the quality and prepare it for use, the granite stone is cut and polished to get the final look. So when you are selecting granite benchtops check the quality and try to find out whether the stone has any cracks or not. Here are some techniques which will be helpful in identifying the quality of the granite benchtops

  • Cracks: To find out cracks on the stone you should check the unpolished side of the stone slab. If any cracks are present on the unpolished area which means that stone is not of fine quality.
  • Pattern Defects: The quality of the granite should be uniform, and colors should be same throughout the slab. If excess quartz is present in the stone it will lead to uneven color and pattern, such type of stone is not durable and can break easily. So try to avoid such granite benchtops.
  • Thickness uniformity: This can be easily identified while looking at the slab closely. Check all edges of the slab to get an idea of the uniformity of the slab. A nonuniform slab is weak from the slimmer area and can break easily.

The granite benchtop is available in various colors which you can select easily according to the interior of the kitchen area. Some of the popular colors are Brown, gray, black, pink, purple. It is economical too and does not require any special type of maintenance so can be used for several years without any maintenance. While installing the bench top make sure all slabs should run in one direction according to the pattern flow otherwise it will look odd affecting the look of the entire kitchen area.
