9-DAY BEAUTY PROGRAM

the-mind-beauty-connection

At the moment my bible is “The mind-beauty connection” by Amy Wechsler. It is a guide to reduce stress in your life, to make you look young, and feel more beautiful than ever before. I borrowed it from the library, but if you want to buy it, go here.

The best chapter is Chapter 4, which is a program that runs for nine days. There are 5 types of stress profiles. Each profile has a tailor made program to suit your individual needs.

I chose profile 5 because I have gotten back into the habit of biting my nails, and need to create new habits.

The following is an example of a nine-day program you can choose from:

Day One:

SIMPLIFY

Out with the old, in with the new. Toss out all old skincare products, and start a fresh with a gentle facial cleanser, daily moisturizer and night cream. Refer to my blog, “How to be a lady – Personal grooming” or “3 Step pampering session” for a daily grooming routine. The book also has examples of skincare products such as Dove, Aveeno and Clinique, etc.

You need to establish a regular sleep schedule. Simplifying your bed and beauty routine is easy. It says that it is best to wash your face twice a day, once in the morning when you get up, and just before bedtime. I try to do this religiously but sometimes am lazy. 4 to 6 hours before bed, don’t drink ANY caffeine. Have dinner early, and turn off the TV and all electronics about an hour to half an hour before bed. The light stimulates the brain, and can keep you awake. Dim the bedroom lights and have warm milk or chamomile tea just before bedtime. You will feel refreshed in the morning.

Day Two:

RELAX

Establish daily breathing exercises. A five-minute breathing exercise can help keep cortisol levels in check and psychologically prepare you for the day. Google some breathing exercises. There are plenty to choose from!!!

Safflower Oil. Olive Oil can also be a substitute for putting on your body.

Day Three:

Step out into nature. Make it a goal to get outdoors for twenty minutes everyday. Walking in nature can be extremely therapeutic.

Have a milk bath. Use Bee Naturals, Queen Bee Milk Bath. Try Honey Sugar Scrub right before doing it.

MILK BATH

Day Four:

EAT CLEAN

Avoid fast food and processed foods. Drink water or green tea throughout the day. I have started drinking T2 Indian Spice. It feels like it really cleanses the insides of my body. Check out the range on the T2 WEBSITE!!!!

Honey Mask. Honey is a natural humectant. My friend Kirsty of The Beauty Bus makes a honey mask, and I will upload the recipe in the next blog. 🙂

Day Five:

GET ACTIVE

Schedule 30 minutes of exercise daily. You should engage in physical activity at least three times a week to get your heart rate up. Borrow exercise DVD’s from the local library.

Manicure/Pedicure.

manucure

Day Six:

FOSTER FRIENDSHIPS

Plan a dinner with family and friends. Your social life is important. If you love to cook, invite your friends over for a delicious meal or go out to a favourite restaurant.

Day Seven:

PAMPER YOURSELF

Learn to meditate. I’m a spiritual person, and I believe whatever you read or listen to affects your brain. Put on some classical music to unwind, or your favourite slow music.

Spa Treatment. Save up for a girl’s day out to a DAY SPA. They are expensive, but you won’t regret it. Or just sprinkle Divine Calm Serenity Milk Bath Powder in the bath, and light some candles, and create your OWN spa treatment. Check out RED BALLOON‘s DEALS.

Day Eight:

SLEEP-IN BEAUTY

Sleep in or try napping. Naps can improve heart function, and repairs cells to help you live longer.

Exfoliate. Buy a body exfoliation such as Goddess Body Exfoliator for $20, or try making one. I will put a recipe for this in the next blog as well to help save you money.

Day Nine:

REFLECT

Reflect on your week. Do you feel physically and emotionally better than last week?

Back to basics. Get back to “Day One” and read the book I recommended. If you read Chapter 5 and 6, it has everything to do with the skin, and will leave you feeling your BEST ever!!!!

Enjoy reading!!!

How to be a lady – Personal Grooming

imagesS1H3OM6O

To achieve an elegant look, your personal grooming has to be immaculate.

imagesKYUOH1CI

How you dress, and how you carry yourself is important if you want to be elegant. Dressing elegantly is a whole other thing, and I will blog about this specifically in a separate blog. We need to think about our personal appearance and what we can do to make ourselves look good.

Self-care is vital in this instance, and a woman that does not love herself will not be able to become a lady. You need to love, care and look after yourself and love your feminine side.

What’s important is that you devote time and energy to refine your image and character. I may reflect more on this in another blog.

When in the shower I cleanse my face with Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser. It penetrates deep into pores and improves the complexion. Then I moisturize my face with Sukin Rose Hip Hydrating Day Cream. It has a combination of pomegranate, Kakadu plum and rose hip oil. The ingredients are fruits and oils, such as jojoba oil, lavender, vitamin E and vanilla, and the cream is suitable for all skin types, so any one can use it!!

SUKIN ROSE HIP MOISTURISER     NEUTROGENA FACIAL CLEANSER

After a shower I use Crabtree and Evelyn Pomegranate Argan and Grape seed Oil Skin Indulging Body Cream. It is the best body cream I have ever used!!! I love to indulge in Crabtree & Evelyn’s body lotions. They always smell divine, and the cream is so silky and moist and has rich botanical ingredients including natural antioxidants. It smells of pomegranate with a burst of citrus and fresh fig leaf.

CRABTREE and EVELYN

This luxurious body cream will pamper and replenish your entire skin and leave your skin feeling soft and supple.

Having a clean and pleasant look radiates to others, and people like to see fresh and polished looks. So, moisturize your body, have a cup of tea and read a book, or a magazine!!! Take some time out for yourself. Don’t feel guilty when it comes to your needs.

I just used a skin-clarifying mud mask, and it is strawberry and yarrow. It works on clogged pores and clarifies your skin. If you leave it on for 10-15 minutes it will enrichen your skin, and when rinsed it feels divine!! It was only $1 at Priceline Pharmacy.

Also, exercising helps you build your self-esteem and confidence, and make you feel good about yourself. Aim to work out 2-3 times a week. Exercise also helps with good posture. Do either pilates or yoga. I am going to start doing this as Kate Middleton does this in her fitness regime, and look at her body! She also does a lot of rowing, and using the rowing machine at the gym will also help with great posture.

ROWING

Anyways, I am going to go back to my cup of tea, and reading of “The taming of the Queen” by Phillipa Gregory.

Travels in Australia

I have been travelling through the South West of Western Australia all this week and I have been absolutely loving it!!!!

I finally visited Albany where my granny lived and went to the Memorial Service with some friends…. I traveled from Merredin to Albany with a lady called Judy Middleton and we had a blast on the drive on the way to there.

When we arrived at Albany we stayed at a motel called Sleep Well. Fairly good sized rooms and we drove all over Albany. On the day of the Memorial Service I visited a church, St Johns and the step into the church was dedicated to an ancestor of mine!! Albany holds a very special place in my heart and we also went to the National Anzac Centre where Prince Charles and Camilla will visit tomorrow. Sadly, I miss them, but I’m not totally shattered as one day I may get to meet them. There is a link with my family, the Spencer’s with them apparently but I’m still finding out more and more about my heritage.

Speaking of heritage, I visited Strawberry Hill Farm where Sir Richard Spencer settled. He is an ancestor of mine also, but sadly the tourist guide didn’t know the history of him much!!!! I am going to read my granny’s book, The Way to St. Werburghs when I get a chance. There is so much to learn and I am getting more and more fascinated by the minute!!!!

Walking through the gardens was just magical, and I bought a Strawberry Hill Farm brochure that talks about the history of the dwelling.

The rooms were quaint and there was quite a bit to explore!!! There were old machines in another room and the dining room was just exquisite.

I totally recommend you to check out my “family home”!!! If you want to read more on the history of the Egerton-Warburtons, read the above named book that my granny, Dawn Crabb wrote. If you love history, this you will love!!!

MELBOURNE CUP LUNCHEON DAY

Getting organised for the Melbourne Cup Luncheon in Merredin has been quite cinch! In Perth, about three weeks ago I bought a couple of Forever New dresses and some from the Target Collection, so that I have a few to choose from for when I go out. I am not normally a Target shopper, but there was quite a few beautiful summer/spring numbers!! And Target is one of the main retail stores in the street of Merredin. Check out the Target Collection on line for some nice Spring Racing Dresses.

My choice of dress for the occasion was a Target Lace Shift Dress in Paradise Pink, which I paired with some Novo Designer Light Brown Heels. A picture of the shoes is also on my Instagram page that I wore to the Woolshed Hotel in Nungarin for a birthday. The ear-rings that I am wearing are Swarovski.

20151103-145555.jpg

My very talented friend, Kirsty Mackenzie put together the dazzling fascinator in just half an hour!! I was going to wear a pink fascinator that I wore to Melbourne Cup two years ago, but thought it may not match the dress properly. Thank God for Kirsty!! She is so wonderful at making things look pretty and most of all I love her Skincare Range that she makes herself! She set up her products as a stall at the luncheon and is known as The Beauty Bus. Follow her on Instagram, and get updated on her products and see what she does with them! She also does an amazing blog…. Follow Kirsty here. My beautiful mum also did my hair!!

As I arrived, we were greeted with a glass of bubbly’s, finger food and there was a lucky door prize we could enter, and prizes for the best dressed and best fascinator. The Sophisticats Walking Team hosted it, and all money raised for this wonderful event is donated to the Perth Weekend to End Women’s Cancer. So the money went towards a good cause.

I can gladly say I WON Best Fascinator towards the end of the day!!! Best dressed went to a lady, Nola and Best Shoes went to Asha Carr. What I also loved was that there were stalls set up for bags, Park Lane jewellery, and Arbonne skincare and makeup. I tried a sample of FC5 Conditioning Body Moisture and it felt silky smooth and would be nice to put on for when you go out into the sun!! I think this product is a GREAT beach buy!! Zane Walker is an Independent Consultant and sells the Arbonne products! There is sooo much to try!! The products with a red dot were ones that had samples. Zane has been so kind and has given me quite a few samples to try, such as the FC5 Ultra Hydrating Hand Creme. This is a MUST try!!

So all in all, it was a fabulous day and eventful!! I won another prize, a Designer Brands makeup bag and a Heated Lash Curler, so I left with some goodies….!! And felt happy at the end of the day!!
